The oldest permanent release in the Redbreast family, 27-Year-Old is a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey comprising exclusively of Pot Still whiskeys which have been triple distilled, matured in the finest bourbon, sherry and ruby port casks for no less than 27 years, and left untouched.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Burnished copper-amber with mahogany depths and a ruby-tinted glow.

Nose

A succulent medley of exotic fruits—mango, pineapple, blood orange and ripe red berries—unfolds with fresh herbs, aromatic oils and wood spices. Vanilla sweetness and treacle toffee deepen the richness, while walnut notes and toasted oak speak to the influence of a masterful cask selection.

Palate

Luxuriously rich in texture with a sumptuous fruit-forward start. Ripe red plums, black cherries and summer berries drift across the palate, tempered by a faint chili oil bite. The flavor unfolds as cherry menthol gives way to vanilla and cinnamon-spice, while red pepper, nutmeg and toasted oak weave a layered, intriguing finish.

Finish

An exceptionally long finish where ripe fruit lingers with warm wood spices, unfolding like a patient three-decade journey.

Redbreast traces its roots to W & A Gilbey, the wine and spirits merchant that began selling Jameson whiskey under its own labels in the late 19th century. The first official use of the Redbreast name appears in 1912, when Gilbey’s was selling Redbreast J.J. Liqueur Whiskey 12 Years Old. The name itself is linked to the robin redbreast and is attributed to a former Gilbey chairman who was known as a bird-fancier.
