Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep coppery amber with a sunlit honey-gold core and mahogany-tinged edges.

Nose

Dried plums, dark chocolate, cinnamon and orange simmer in a lush sherry-laden aroma, lifted by subtle oak from the ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.

Palate

Dried and stone fruits dominate, with sultana, dates and cherries mingling with tropical fruit. Sweet spice lingers—gingerbread—in a rich, warm, full-bodied finish.

Finish

A long, warming finish that lingers with rich coffee tones and the syrupy sweetness of fruit preserves, leaving a velvet warmth on the palate.

Redbreast traces its roots to W & A Gilbey, the wine and spirits merchant that began selling Jameson whiskey under its own labels in the late 19th century. The first official use of the Redbreast name appears in 1912, when Gilbey’s was selling Redbreast J.J. Liqueur Whiskey 12 Years Old. The name itself is linked to the robin redbreast and is attributed to a former Gilbey chairman who was known as a bird-fancier.
