The follow-up to the toasted barrel finish bourbon – this time a limited-edition rye, bottled at cask strength.
Starting with a punchy rye whiskey, Michter's further age it in casks that have been toasted rather than charred.
According to Michter’s, the use of toasted wood in conjuction with their barrel strength US1 rye was twofold, “to enhance the spice character in the rye while adding hints of dark toast and smoke.”

Tasting Notes
Nose
Pastry-forward aroma, lush with booze and spice. Cinnamon and marzipan surge to the fore, bold and lingering with each inhale. Whiskey-soaked cherries mingle with red-and-white candy canes and nutmeg egg nog, like a holiday dessert table captured in a single glass.
Palate
Sweet rye carries a brown sugar depth and warm spice on the palate. Toasted oak threads in gentle smoke, softening the heat into a velvety, dessert-like sip. The finish lingers with port-like warmth, making it more of an after-dinner sipper than a boisterous daily dram.
