Loch Lomond Waypoint Series Inversnaid to Inverarnan 31 Year Old is the third release in the distillery’s Waypoint Series, inspired by the rugged trail running along the north-east shore of Loch Lomond. This highly limited expression is also the oldest peated single malt released by Loch Lomond. Distilled in the distillery’s distinctive Straight Neck Stills, it spent 31 years maturing across three types of ex-bourbon American oak casks before being finished for 12 months in Tawny Port pipes. Bottled at 44.1% ABV, it is presented at natural colour and without chill filtration, with just 2,600 bottles released worldwide.
The Tawny Port finish brings added depth to the mature, softly smoky spirit, opening with blackberry and honey before developing notes of dark chocolate, freshly picked raspberries and cedar wood. A long, complex finish combines gentle wood smoke with lingering dark fruit. The presentation is equally distinctive, with the whisky housed in a handcrafted etched wooden case featuring an internal copper tube and detailed artwork inspired by the journey from Inversnaid to Inverarnan, making this one of the most elaborate releases in the Waypoint Series to date.
