Loch Lomond Croftengea - Claxton's Warehouse 8 - Pedro Ximenez Sherry Octave Whisky 5 Year Old · 2017 Vintage
In stock
Bottled by Claxton’s for the Warehouse No. 8 range, this 2017 Croftengea from Loch Lomond was matured in a Pedro Ximénez sherry octave before being bottled in 2023 at 5 years old. Bottled at a natural strength of 57.5% ABV, this release had an outturn of 65 bottles.
The combination of heavily peated Croftengea spirit and a small Pedro Ximénez octave makes this quite a full-on style of whisky, with the cask having a strong influence despite its young age. That means plenty of dark sweetness from the sherry cask, sitting alongside earthy smoke, spice and Loch Lomond’s muscular distillate character.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, dark amber with mahogany edges and a glossy, chocolatey glow.
Nose
Heady musk with freshly sawn oak and earthy-sweet peat, subtly tempered by Pedro Ximénez sherry richness that threads through the smoke.
Palate
Sweet and very fruity at first, the peat floods in with a sweet, PX-rich depth. Earthy smoke laces dark fruit and cocoa, while spice and oak provide a warming, lasting finish that hangs with dessert-like, smoky sweetness.
Finish
Deliciously fruity and peaty, the finish lingers with sherry sweetness, earthy smoke and a final wave of smoked-candy spice.
