Ledaig Isle of Mull Single Malt Whisky 1974 Vintage
Out of stock
I've never sampled any Ledaig from the 1970's that I haven't thought was remarkable and I'm sure this one will be no exception. A very underrated and we're sure a soon to be re-discovered Distillery Malt. The box and bottle of this example are in pretty good shape.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery sheen and mahogany edges, a warm burnished-gold glow.
Nose
Peat smoke and maritime brine dominate, with iodine and seaweed lingering in the air. Rich sherry whispers through dried fig and raisin, entwined with cocoa, leather and toasted oak. A coastal mineral lift keeps the aroma bright, suggestive of a coastal maturation and the 1974 vintage’s refined character.
Palate
Oil-coated and expressive, this delivers coastal peat with sea-salt and iodine that linger on the tongue. Sherry-cask sweetness threads through dried fig and raisin, weaving with cocoa and coffee notes. Spices emerge—black pepper and a hint of clove—leading to a long, savory finish enriched by leather, toasted oak, and a final whisper of smoke.
Finish
Long, maritime peat lingers, supported by sherry-drenched fruit, cocoa and a touch of fig. Sea-salt and toasted oak weave through the smoke, fading to a warm, velvety glow and leaving a quiet, tobacco-spice finale that persists.
