Bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Connoisseurs Choice range, this 2008 Ledaig was released in 2020 at 12 years old. It was initially matured in refill sherry hogsheads before a 3-year finish in Hermitage casks, then bottled at 45% ABV.

Colour

Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and a warm mahogany undertone.

Nose

Rich smoky top notes rise to sun-kissed summer fruits, with a bright lift of fresh lemon zest.

Palate

Smooth and creamy, it opens with cracked black pepper, followed by sun-warmed summer fruits, a whisper of citrus zest, and a gentle veil of peat smoke that lingers.

Finish

Medium-bodied, fruity with a lingering wisp of smoke.

(Le-Chig) Ledaig is the heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky made at Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull. The name means “safe haven” and was the original name used when John Sinclair founded the distillery in 1798, making it one of Scotland’s older surviving distilling sites.
