Ledaig Batch #2 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 18 Year Old
Out of stock
The second batch of the rather tastey Ledaig 18 year old. Proving that Islay dosen't have a monopoly on good heavily peated whiskies. This cracker from the Tobermory distillery on Mull, has been finished in oloroso sherry casks. A lovely mix of earthiness, maritime notes, sulphur, peat and sweet fruit.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a warm copper glow and mahogany edges.
Nose
Smoked earth and damp sea air mingle with peat smoke and a pinch of sulfur, threaded with mineral salinity. Oloroso sherry echoes in dried fruit—fig, raisin, orange zest—woven with toffee and spice, a maritime bouquet that lingers with depth and quiet power.
Palate
On the palate, sturdy peat and earthy smoke fuse with saline maritime notes and a bright sulphur spark. Oloroso-sherry sweetness coats dark fruit—prune, raisin, fig—with hints of cocoa and toffee. The texture is full and slightly oily, with warming spice and oak. A long, piercing finish of peat, earth and sweet fruit lingers.
Finish
Long, maritime finish where peat smoke fades into rich oloroso sweetness—figs, dates and dark chocolate mingling with warm spice. Salted mineral notes linger with coastal echoes, while a whisper of sulfur and earthy peat seals a dry, meditative smoke that persists with balsamic warmth.
