Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber with coppery mahogany depth, a rich sherry-warmed bronze.
Nose
Fruit and nut chocolate weave with earthy forest floor and fresh mushroom, rising into tarry, rich peat smoke. Caramelized nuts and mincemeat lend sweetness against a dark, savoury meatiness, with coastal varnish and maritime smokiness framing the aroma.
Palate
On the palate, a dense, velvety rush of maltloaf and toasted brown bread laying on a mulchy, leafy forest floor. Rustic and savoury, with meaty, peppery Ledaig character weaving through aromatic spices and honey-roasted nuts. Bold, cask-strength warmth coats the tongue, leaving a lingering peat-spiced finish.
Finish
Thick, peppery dark peat smoke lingers, giving way to honey-roasted ham, dark treacle and fruit-nut chocolate, with salted caramel and aromatic pulled-pork crackling. The finish stays savory and substantial, then, with a splash of water, earthy mushroom cream and a hint of twiglets by a bonfire emerge.
