Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich amber with a copper-gold shimmer and a whisper of mahogany at the edges.

Nose

Fresh sea salt and sandy coastal notes mingle with apricot jam, a whisper of smoke and damp bracken. Loose-leaf tea with honey lends gentle sweetness, while varnished wood adds a polished, resinous edge to this elegant Highland Park aroma.

Palate

A harmony of smoked heather, salted toffee, spiced oak and peppery peat, with waxy orange and a hint of apricot jam on brown bread.

Finish

Smoked toffee lingers with creamy oak, a salty mocha undercurrent, and a final kiss of spicy oak to round things off.

(HY-land PARK) Highland Park was founded in Kirkwall in 1798, with the distillery tracing its start to Magnus Eunson, who obtained his first whisky-making licence that year. It remains one of Orkney’s best-known distilleries, and the island setting is central to the whisky’s identity, from the local peat to the maritime climate that shapes maturation.
