Our fears that at 40% this might be a bit lightweight were unfounded as this is a beauty of a HP that is up there with the 18 year old for me and great value for such a complex offering.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Golden amber with a warm honey glow and coppery highlights.
Nose
An evocative nose of cinder toffee and smoked apple cores, mingled with bonfires in November and heather honey. Buttered rum fudge balances aged leather with a zesty twist of orange rind. Sherry-soaked dried fruit and malt loaf hint at warmth and depth, while the smoke threads through with bonfire embers.
Palate
Smoked treacle toffee lingers with wet leather and suede, accented by savoury ham-like smoke and candied peel. Sherry-soaked fruitcake adds depth, while bonfire smoke coats the palate. The mouthfeel is juicy and syrupy, carried by malty raisin sweetness and honeyed flapjacks.
Finish
Heather and smoked gorse unfold into candied orange peel, followed by dark mocha, treacle toffee and honeycomb. Savoury cured meats, sweet honey-roasted nuts and lingering bonfire smoke complete the finish.
