The Glenrothes Distillery was established in 1878 and today runs ten pot stills. The spirit stills are distinguished by their tall necks and boil balls, ensuring a constant reflux and giving rise to a refined and complex spirit. This Whisky was aged for eleven years, the Refill Hogsheads allowing the natural distillery character to remain at the forefront of the spirit.
Immediate aromas are of lightly roasted barley rather than oak, followed by a little malty barley sugar and Scottish shortbread sweetness, and then along comes some orange blossom and dried peel and the expected vanilla oak. The initial flavour is one of soft orange marmalade, vanilla pastry and ginger with the spicier structure again coming through a little later.

Colour
Pale gold with bright straw highlights and a soft honey glow.
Nose
Lightly roasted barley opens the nose, with no oak in the foreground. A subtle bloom of malty barley sugar and Scottish shortbread sweetness follows, then orange blossom and dried peel emerge, all layered over a gentle vanilla oak.
Palate
Soft orange marmalade with vanilla pastry and ginger opens the palate, followed by a spicier structure that develops with time. Subtle oak supports the sweetness as dried citrus notes linger into a polished, lingering finish.
Finish
Elegant, medium-long finish of orange marmalade and vanilla pastry, with ginger spice and a soft oak echo, and a hint of dried citrus peel—a warm, lingering farewell.
