Glen Scotia Chieftain's Single Cask #990 Whisky 30 Year Old · 1974 Vintage

Looks like this was bottled just in time before it dropped below the legal 40% limit. This value for money single cask 30 year old exhibits great flavour due to its ex-Rum cask origin.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich copper-amber with a warm honey-gold core and mahogany-tinged rim.
Nose
A lush, rum-influenced bouquet: vanilla, toffee and caramel envelope dried banana, pineapple and raisins. Spices—clove, nutmeg, ginger—accented by polished oak, with a whisper of coastal salinity, delivering tropical warmth and poised age.
Palate
Silky, medium-bodied with rum-kissed sweetness on the palate. Rich toffee, caramel and molasses unfold into dried fig and raisin, layered with orange zest, vanilla and a hint of coconut. Oak and gentle spice weave through the mid-palate, while a maritime edge keeps the finish bright and long, leaving nutmeg and warm rum spice echoing into the tail.
Finish
Long, lush finish with tropical fruit, toffee and molasses from the ex-Rum cask. Vanilla cream, hints of cocoa and spice linger, weaving into a warm coastal sweetness that sails on, with a delicate oak kiss at the end.
