Glen Ord The Singleton Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 40 Year Old
In stock
A truly elegant grand finale to the Epicurean Odyssey. This deeply decadent malt began as a flavoursome 12 year old whisky, which was then transferred to a series of rum casks to double mature for nearly three decades. To enhance the base notes of luscious dark chocolate and sun ripened fruit, the whiskies were married in precious Solera casks of Zacapa XO and Royal rum, for a luxuriously smooth expression – delicate, sweet, exotic and outstandingly smooth, the 40 year old is a maximalist in time, craft and flavour.
Tasting Notes
Complexly layered notes suggest pears slathered indulgently in dark chocolate and caramelised tropical fruits. Beautifully balanced and super-smooth, with sustained rich, sweet fruitiness balanced by slow-building black pepper. A drop of water emphasises the fruit and softens the spice, bringing out a mouth-cooling aftertaste.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with burnished copper and mahogany undertones, a warm, luxurious glow evoking dark chocolate, toffee and sun-dried fruit.
Nose
Complex, elegant nose with ripe pear and lush dark chocolate, framed by caramelised tropical fruits. A velvet undercurrent of vanilla and oak, with a whisper of spice—black pepper—finishing in a delicate, sun-warmed sweetness.
Palate
Silky, layered with pears in dark chocolate and caramelised tropical fruits, the palate seduces with lush, sweet fruitiness. Subtle black pepper adds a quiet spice, kept in check by extraordinary smoothness. A splash of water lifts the fruit, tempers the spice and leaves a mouth-cooling aftertaste.
Finish
An elegantly long finish that coats the palate with pear, dark chocolate and caramelised tropical fruits, fused with a kiss of black pepper. The sweetness persists, slowly tapering to a mouth-cooling, silky afterglow that lingers long after the final sip.
