Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and mahogany undertones.

Nose

Opulent sherry-driven bouquet with dark fruits—raisin, fig and prune—lifted by orange zest. Rich vanilla, toffee and caramel weave through toasted oak, while cinnamon, clove and nutmeg shimmer in the background. Subtle leather, almond and cacao add refinement, finishing with a whisper of tobacco.

Palate

Silky, full-bodied palate with sherried sweetness and refined oak. Dried fig and raisin mingle with orange zest, toffee and dark chocolate. Spices—cinnamon and nutmeg—shine through a creamy vanilla core, finishing long, balanced, and gently warming with a lingering espresso-like oak note.

Finish

Long, luxurious finish of dried-fruit sweetness and sherry, with cocoa, orange zest and roasted almond. Oak spice lingers softly, supported by vanilla and a whisper of dark chocolate, fading to a warm, velvety echo.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
