Glen Ord The Singleton 2019 Special Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky 18 Year Old · 2000 Vintage
Out of stock
Distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2019, this 18-year-old Glen Ord was released under The Singleton label as part of Diageo’s annual Special Releases collection. The 2019 series carried the theme “Rare by Nature”, with each whisky presented with distinctive wildlife-inspired artwork. Bottled at a natural 55% ABV, this release offered a rare opportunity to experience Glen Ord’s spirit in a cask-strength format.
The whisky was matured for its full term in freshly charred American oak hogsheads, which bring layers of sweetness, spice and fruit while allowing the distillery’s naturally rich Highland character to shine through. Glen Ord Distillery, located on the Black Isle just north of Inverness, dates back to 1838 and is the only remaining distillery on the peninsula. Much of its production is used for blends, making single malt releases such as this relatively uncommon.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber with sunlit honey-gold and copper undertones.
Nose
Soft, lightly prickly on the nose, delicate at cask strength. Subtle nougat with hints of dried apple and zesty orange peel; a restrained, gently sweet aroma. A drop of water reveals creamy chocolate and lifts the orange note, though the aroma remains a quiet prelude to the palate.
Palate
Natural-strength, mouth-filling and smooth, the palate opens with caramel-toffee sweetness, tempered by a zing of orange-peel sourness that builds a warming, spice-laden crescendo. With a drop of water, sweetness deepens and texture graces the tongue, while the spices stay present—more as support to the sweetness than the lead. Finish long, warming, lightly spicy.
Finish
Long, warming, and increasingly spicy, the finish lingers with a tingling bite and a lightly drying edge. Water sweetens and smooths the finale, yielding a milk-chocolate aftertaste.
