This 2008 Deanston 15-year-old matured in a refill sherry butt that yielded a generous 667 bottles at a very generous 60.2% natural cask strength, so hold onto your hats with this one and maybe keep your water jug on standby.

Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a tawny mahogany glow.
Nose
Dense, inviting nose of dried figs and raisins, orange zest, and honeyed malt. Sherry influence brings ripe cherry, sultana, and a thread of dark chocolate, with cinnamon and clove spice. Vanilla, toffee and creamy oak mingle with almond undertones, hinting at the cask strength richness to follow.
Palate
Powerful and lavish on the palate, this cask-strength Deanston unfurls notes of raisin and fig, toasted almond and dark chocolate, bound with candied orange zest and cinnamon. Sherry depth lends velvety sweetness behind a warming, peppery spine, while vanilla and oak weave through a full, syrupy, cocoa-dusted finish.
Finish
Long, warming finish with bold sherry echoes: dried fig and raisin, orange zest and dark chocolate, braided with cinnamon and clove. Oak and vanilla underline the sweetness as a velvety, persistent warmth lingers well after the last sip.
