A little seen Speyside distillery this. Most whisky produced from this location ends up in Johnnie Walker blends. Independant bottlings and official bottlings particularly, are relatively scarce. The best examples of what the distillery can produce have tended to be sherried and this is a good example. Bottled under the Douglas of Drunlanrig label (part of Hunter Laing's portfolio), this is a 9 year old, 2004 vinatge single malt matured in a single sherry hogshead and bottled at 43% abv, one of 773 bottles released.

Colour
Deep burnished amber with mahogany depths and a coppery glow, revealing rich sherry warmth.
Nose
Opulent sherry-forward nose: dried plum, raisin and fig mingle with dark cocoa and toffee. Velvet caramel drapes toasted oak, with a whisper of coffee and spice. A bright note of orange zest and a hint of leather add polish, promising a luxurious, fruity, well-integrated aroma.
Palate
Sherried richness coats the palate with dried fig, raisin and plum, touched by red berry jam and a hint of orange zest. Velvet cocoa and toffee mingle with espresso and warm spice—cinnamon and clove—while polished oak frames the sweetness. A balanced, lingering finish carries the fruit and sherry lift long after the last sip.
Finish
Silky, elongated finish infused with sherry sweetness: dried plum, fig and raisin mingle with orange zest, while toasted almond and dark chocolate weave through. Warm spice and oak threads linger, fading to a refined, enduring glow.
