Tasting Notes

Colour

Pale straw, almost colorless, with a bright, delicate sheen that reflects its pristine, colour-free character.

Nose

Straw-hued and delicate, with dried apricot, soft cheese on oatmeal biscuits, apple cores, and tinned pears in syrup, all carried on a whisper of coastal breeze.

Palate

Surprising after the delicate nose, it bursts with a full-bodied, peppery palate, carrying fresh barley, buttery oak, melon and ginger spice, a cream-cheese note, and the coastal vibrancy that characterizes Bruichladdich.

Finish

Apricot flapjacks and runny honey linger, with ginger, a salt-kissed citrus lift, and a peppery, oak-driven finish.

Bruichladdich
(brook-LADDIE) Bruichladdich distillery is the home of four different malts: the unpeated Bruichladdich, the heavily peated Port Charlotte, the even more peated (and rarely seen) Lochindaal and the super heavily peated Octomore. The distillery was built in 1881 by the Harvey Brothers and at the time it was viewed as a very modern establishment.  It is situated in The Rhinns, in the west of the island, overlooking Loch Indaal. It ran under a succession of different owners including Whyte and Mackay and Murray McDavid before being purchased by Remy Cointreau in 2012.
