Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich golden amber with coppery shimmer and a wine-warm, rosé-hued edge.

Nose

French wine-cask maturation infuses a lush perfume: ripe red berries, plum and fig, woven with wine-spice and velvety oak. Hints of dark chocolate, vanilla and leather deepen the core, while a delicate Islay maritime whisper keeps it buoyant and refined.

Palate

Silky, full-bodied palate infused with red-wine nuance: raspberry, blackberry and plum mingle with grape-skin tannins. Rich vanilla sweetness and cocoa drift through spice notes of clove and cinnamon, while a maritime brightness lingers, concluding with a warm, lingering finish.

Finish

Silky and remarkably long, the finish unfurls a warm wave of red fruit from the wine-cask influence—plum and cherry mingled with spice and a hint of cocoa. Tannins linger, giving a refined grip before easing into toasted oak and subtle sea-salt nuance, leaving a clean, coastal warmth that slowly fades.

Bruichladdich
(brook-LADDIE) Bruichladdich distillery is the home of four different malts: the unpeated Bruichladdich, the heavily peated Port Charlotte, the even more peated (and rarely seen) Lochindaal and the super heavily peated Octomore. The distillery was built in 1881 by the Harvey Brothers and at the time it was viewed as a very modern establishment.  It is situated in The Rhinns, in the west of the island, overlooking Loch Indaal. It ran under a succession of different owners including Whyte and Mackay and Murray McDavid before being purchased by Remy Cointreau in 2012.
