In stock
Bowmore 1969 50 Year Old is an ultra-rare Islay single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 1969 and bottled in 2021 as the final release in Bowmore’s Vault Series, one of the distillery’s most celebrated aged expressions. It was matured for half a century in a mix of American oak ex-bourbon barrels and Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks before bottling at 46.9 % ABV, with just 339 bottles produced.
The nose is floral and refined, with citrus fruits, honey and soft vanilla cream, while the palate reveals layers of lemon meringue, grilled almonds, crème caramel fudge and light oak spice alongside a whisper of Islay smoke. The finish is long, warm and delicately sweet, making this a profound reflection of five decades of maturation and Bowmore’s coastal character.
This 1969 50 Year Old stands as a testament to patience and craftsmanship, embodying the complexity and elegance that only extended ageing can deliver from one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries.
