A virgin oak matured Bowmore bottled for the 2015 Feis Ils. Virgin oak maturation is becoming more and more popular in recent times. Only 1000 have been bottled and it has also been bottled at a cask strength of 55.7%.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and a warm honey glow.

Nose

Peat smoke and sea spray form a maritime backbone, with bright citrus zest lifting the aroma. Virgin oak delivers opulent vanilla, toasted spice, and a hint of coconut, weaving through the smoke in creamy, resinous layers. At cask strength, the nose is bold, inviting, and richly expressive.

Palate

Oil-rich and full-bodied, this Bowmore unfurls a maritime smoke with sea-salt clarity. Virgin oak mingles with vanilla at cask-strength warmth, while lemon zest threads through cocoa, dried fruit and coconut sweetness. Spiced oak drives the mid-palate, finishing with warm pepper, ash and a long, saline fade.

Finish

Long, decadent finish with vanilla and honeyed caramel from virgin oak, over a bed of Bowmore peat. Coastal salt and subtle spice trail away, leaving a warm, resinous oak lingering and a final whisper of chocolate.
