Auchentoshan Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 24 Year Old · 1998 Vintage

Colour

Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a touch of mahogany, hinting at 24 years maturing in bourbon and sherry casks.

Nose

Bright citrus zest and crisp green apple lift the aroma, carried by vanilla custard and gentle toffee from the bourbon casks. Subtle almond and white chocolate weave through a silky sweetness, while European oak sherry casks add dried fig, raisin and orange peel. A delicate spice and a whisper of cocoa finish with refined depth and quiet elegance.

Palate

Silky and refined, this pours with creamy vanilla and toffee from the bourbon influence, brightened by citrus zest and green apple. Nutty almond and soft oak underpin a European sherry layer of dried fruit, fig and a touch of cocoa. Mouthfeel is smooth and medium-bodied, with a balanced sweetness and a long, elegant finish of fruit, spice and warm oak.

Finish

Long and refined, the finish releases vanilla and caramel sweetness, with sherry-cask depth lending dried fruit and gentle spice. Bourbon oak warmth threads through, followed by citrus zest and almond, and finally a silky cocoa-nut finish that lingers on the palate with a polished, dry elegance.
