Van Brunt
Van Brunt Stillhouse was founded in 2012 in Red Hook, Brooklyn, by Daric Schlesselman and Sarah Ludington. The name comes from Cornelius Van Brunt, one of the early Dutch settlers connected with Breukelen, and the distillery was built around bringing small-scale distilling back to a part of Brooklyn’s waterfront that once had its own rum, gin and whiskey history. Van Brunt operated as a New York State Farm Distillery, making its spirits in house and sourcing wheat, rye and corn from New York farms.
