The Tria Prima distillery is run by Scotsman and Boutique-y Whisky fan Paul Shand. Paul and his wife, Trang, founded the distillery in 2017 and launched their whiskies in 2021.

The spirit has been matured in an ex-Grant Burge, first fill Tawny cask - Tawny is the name of Australian fortified wine, made in a very similar fashion to those bottles of tawny Port found in Portugal.
