Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.
A bargain priced alternative to the official Macallan 18 year old which in our opinion, and probably due to the lower number of casks used, is actually better than this years distillery release. A lovely elegant and lighter sherried style to this Macallan with juicy fruit and creamy oak.

Ripe orange zest, sun-warmed raisin and red berry jam mingle with creamy vanilla oak. Hints of almond, toffee and gentle spice drift over a delicate sherry veil, yielding a refined, fruit-forward bouquet with the Macallan's signature elegance.
Palate
Silky and medium-bodied, this Speymalt delivers a lighter sherry profile with juicy orange zest, raisin and plum, layered over creamy vanilla oak. Subtle spice and almond lift the texture, guiding a long, refined finish of warm, toasted oak and a touch of honey.
Finish
A long, refined finish of warm sherry sweetness that clings with orange zest, dark chocolate and almond paste, mingling spice with velvety oak. Juicy fruit lingers, cake-like and elegant, leaving a polished warmth that invites another sip.
