One of the darkest whiskies Macallan creates, M is matured in a small hand selected number sherry-seasoned oak casks and showcases The Macallan’s rich natural colour proudly. The spirit is presented in a flawless crystal decanter. Individually numbered, it is the expert work of Lalique, doyen of French glass making since 1888.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Inky, obsidian-dark with a dense mahogany core and a warm ruby-amber glow.

Nose

Sweet black cherry and demerara sugar rise from the glass, mingling with polished oak and leather, softened by hints of indulgent chocolate and vanilla.

Palate

Liquorice and tea leaves mingle with smooth crème anglaise, while chocolate orange sweetness lingers, with a refined hint of wood spice.

Finish

Rich dried fruit lingers with decadent dark chocolate, a lush, cocoa-kissed finish.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
