Scarabus Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 30 Year Old
In stock
Scarabus, an Islay Single Malt for those with a curious mind and an eye for detail. A whisky bold and honest about its origins and just a little mysterious about everything else.
The brand creates a sense of mystery and discovery through the tagline “only those who seek shall find” and through the intentionally ambiguous symbols incorporated on the label. The look and feel drew inspiration from the work of Islay born John Francis Campbell, who created the sunshine recorder, a device that tallies the hours of sunshine in a day, as well as creating a vast collection of Celtic folklore tales.
Scarabus is known as a mystical area on the Isle of Islay, and the name dates back to 13th century, and translates to “a rocky place” in Old Norse.
Each expression is bottled proudly without colouring or chill-filtration.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, burnished amber with coppery highlights and a honey-gold glow.
Nose
Aromas of whispering peat and sea spray mingle with sherry-softened fruit: dried fig and date, hints of raisin. Rich vanilla, toffee and dark chocolate ride atop polished oak, while a saline, iodine-kissed note lingers at the rim.
Palate
Silky, boldly peated Islay with a refined sherried backbone. Rich chocolate, dried fig and espresso mingle with sea salt, iodine and leather, all wrapped in velvety oak. A long, warming finish driven by spice and a lingering, elegant smoke.
Finish
An extended maritime finish where Islay peat meets sherried sweetness. Smoke lingers with dark fruit, cocoa and toasted oak, then eases into warm spice and a resinous glow. The coastal edge softens as it fades, leaving a refined warmth that lingers on the palate.
