Tasting Notes

Nose

Opulent sherry-driven nose: raisin and fig fruit intertwined with orange zest, a thread of dark chocolate and treacle. Vanilla, almond, and baking spices weave through toasted oak, while a delicate floral lift keeps the aroma bright. Warm, velvety depth hints at its 23-year maturation.

(Loch-na-Gar) Royal Lochnagar was founded by John Begg in 1845 beside the River Dee, close to Balmoral in Royal Deeside. Earlier distilleries using the Lochnagar name had operated nearby, but Begg’s New Lochnagar is the site that developed into the distillery still working today.
