Douglas Laing's "Old Particular" is a particularly unique series of individually hand-selected aged Single Cask Malts' and Single Cask Single Grains from all over Scotland. This 16 year old Port Dundas single grain whisky, bottled in 2020, is one of 343 bottles aged exclusively in a refill Pedro Ximenez sherry butt.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with coppery-gold highlights and a burnished mahogany edge.

Nose

Rosy apple sweets drift with Pedro Ximenez sherry, opening into warming spice and buttered toast, with a whisper of sweetness that lingers invitingly on the nose.

Palate

Apricot and gingerbread rise upfront, followed by a long, lingering orchard-fruit finish.

Finish

Chocolate notes emerge, intertwining with charred oak to leave a warm, cocoa-laden finish.

Port Dundas (silent)
(port DUN-duss) Port Dundas was founded in Glasgow in 1811 beside the Forth & Clyde Canal, and for much of its life it was one of the city’s great whisky landmarks. A second nearby distillery, Cowlairs, later merged with Port Dundas in 1860, and in 1877 the site became one of the founding members of Distillers Company Limited, underlining its importance in the history of Scotch grain whisky.
