With Xaymaca Special Dry, Plantation revives the quintessential Jamaican-style, 100% pot still rums of the 19th century with an expression of intense flavors that reveal the traditional, legendary Rum Funk: aromas and flavors of black banana and flambéed pineapple, locally called "Hogo," an Anglicization of the French term "Haut Goût" (high taste).

Planteray was founded in 1999 by Alexandre Gabriel under Maison Ferrand, and for most of its life was known as Plantation Rum before being renamed Planteray in 2024. The brand has built its identity around exploring rum terroirs from across the Caribbean and beyond, working with distillers in places such as Barbados, Jamaica, Fiji and Mauritius rather than limiting itself to one country or one house style.
