Distilled at Penderyn Distillery in Wales and bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, this Batch #2 release is a 6-year-old single malt matured in an STR red wine cask – a cask that has been shaved, toasted and re-charred, a technique developed by the late whisky expert Dr Jim Swan to enhance flavour extraction from former wine barrels. It was bottled at 50% ABV and yielded 436 bottles.
Penderyn is notable for being the first distillery to produce whisky in Wales for more than a century when it was founded in 2000, using its distinctive Faraday still, which produces an unusually light and clean spirit.
A lively and characterful Welsh single malt that showcases both Penderyn’s elegant house style and the bold influence of STR wine cask maturation.

Deep copper-amber with ruby-red undertones and a glossy, wine-warmed mahogany edge.
Nose
An elegant, sweet nose with vanilla, fresh grasses, apricots and wild strawberries.
Palate
Sweet and fruity, with Chinese peach, apricot grape juice and a touch of vanilla sponge cake.
Finish
Long, silky finish where vanilla and fruit-driven sweetness echo apricot and peach, with a wine-softened warmth from the STR cask. The sweetness lingers, edged by a delicate oaken spice and a clean, creamy vanillic fade that invites the next sip.
