Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a mahogany-tinged edge; a warm, honey-bronze glow.
Nose
Opulent sherry integration yields dried fig and prune atop espresso and dark cocoa. Leather, mahogany and toasted almond mingle with cinnamon and clove, while rich oak and a whisper of burnt sugar add warmth. A confident, aged perfume—silky, monumental, and distinctly Mortlach.
Palate
Silky, full-bodied and lusciously velvety, this Mortlach coats the palate with an oily richness. Sherry-dripped sweetness pours forth notes of dried fig, prune and raisin, braided with dark chocolate, coffee and orange zest. Subtle spice—nutmeg and clove—drifts through toasted oak, finishing long, warm and refined.
Finish
Long, refined finish unfurls in velvet waves of sherry sweetness, toasted oak and dark fruit. Prune and fig drift into cocoa and spice, leaving a warm, resinous glow. The 50-year maturation coats the palate with silky tannins, fading slowly to a whisper of smoke and leather.
