A lesser known and rarely encountered Speyside single malt. Part of the Chivas portfolio, little if anything is seen officially as most goes into Ballantines and other blends. Gordon and Macphail have bottled under license previously and have now produced this 30 year old offering. Just 110 bottles were produced from a single refill Bourbon cask. Bottled at 53.1% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Soft orchard fruits and honeycomb aromas develop into poached red apple with thick apricot jam. Creamy vanilla notes balanced by traces of chocolate, mature oak, and beeswax polish.

Palate

Warming and sweet; white pepper mixes with chilli-infused chocolate. Flavours of butter shortbread combine with raspberry, apple, and banana. A slightly drying grapefruit edge develops.

Finish

Delicate and drying oak lingers with a slight nuttiness.

(Milton-DUFF) Miltonduff is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery near Elgin in Moray, founded in 1824 by Andrew Peary and Robert Bain. The site had previously been connected to illicit distilling and was originally part of the Milton estate, with the distillery taking its name from the Duff family who owned the land. It later became part of Hiram Walker in 1936, linking Miltonduff closely to Ballantine’s blended Scotch whisky.
