Ledaig Marsala Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky 19 Year Old
Out of stock
A small batch release of heavily peated Tobermory distilled back in 1997 and then matured in bourbon barrels and then finished in Marsala wine casks.
It was bottled late 2016 before arriving to markets at the beginning of 2017 and bottled at an impressive 51% ABV.
A fun and funky Ledaig not for the faint hearted who just want something "SMOOTH" but a challenging and most unusual array of flavour combinations even i as a huge fan of Ledaig had not come across before.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich, deep amber with coppery highlights and a burnished bronze glow.
Nose
Classic peaty Ledaig funk on the nose: dense smoke and savory, earthy peat mingle with meaty depth. Marsala cask adds dark fruit—black grapes, blackberries and red berries—alongside plum notes and a subtle hint of smoked cheese rind.
Palate
Peppery smoked meat on the palate—game sausages with chilli heat and a sweet glaze—meets a funky ketchup note. Black grape skins and blackberries ride the tar-smoked backdrop, with duck and orange pâté lending depth. A rootsy, earthy body anchors the profile, finishing peppery and persistent with smoky, gamey character.
Finish
Gamey and earthy, with hints of truffle and smoked meats, black grape jelly and blackcurrant cordial; sooty peat smoke lingers, spiked by peppery anise, clove and caraway.
