This Goalong single cask release is matured in an STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) wine cask, a treatment that enhances the cask’s ability to impart colour, sweetness and spice. As a single cask bottling, it offers a more individual and concentrated take on the distillery’s style.

The STR wine cask brings richer red fruit, chocolate and spice to the whisky, giving it a deeper, more robust profile while still allowing the underlying fruit character of the spirit to come through clearly.

Founded in 2017, the Goalong Distillery is based in China’s Hunan Province, where a humid subtropical climate plays a key role in how the spirit matures. Using locally sourced grains such as barley, rice and wheat, the distillery blends traditional practices (like copper pot distillation and aging in oak barrels) with contemporary techniques. The region’s warmer conditions speed up the aging process, allowing the whisky to develop deeper colour and fuller flavours more quickly than those produced in cooler climates.
