The return of Glenmorangie Astar (Scots Gaelic for “journey”) a single malt entirely matured in bespoke oak casks, which were designed to deliver perfection in the final spirit.The 2017 Astar’s extraordinary casks are hewn from hand-selected slow-grown oak trees from the Ozark mountains of Missouri, and meticulously crafted to exacting specifications, to ensure they impart their maximum flavour to our delicate Highland spirit. Although the silken depths of its first release delighted connoisseurs, such casks are so rare that it has taken years to orchestrate its renaissance.
The Astar’s triumphant, limited-edition return brings a newfound richness and complexity to this smooth, creamy and long celebrated single malt.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Golden amber with a sunlit honey glow and a delicate coppery sheen.
Nose
Beeswax and heather honey drift with coconut fudge and white chocolate, a praline sweetness, hints of butterscotch, apricot glaze on baked pastries and vanilla sponge cake.
Palate
Toasted coconut and creme brulee open the palate with creamy sweetness, followed by candied tropical fruit and spicy vanilla fudge. A sappy oak backbone unfolds, carrying clove, orange oil and hazelnut puree for a warm, textured finish that lingers with nutty spice.
Finish
Opulent, honeyed and long, the finish lingers with almond and coconut against dry vanillin oak; apricot jam and egg custard glow softly, while toasted brioche and a whisper of late clove spice complete the finale.
