Part of a trilogy of Age of Discovery releases bottled at 19 years old, here finished in red wine casks from South America that would have held Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon red wines.
Really interesting release from Glenfiddich, would have liked this trilogy at 43% or 46% ABv but that is a minor gripe as the whole trilogy rank as some of the most delicious liquid to come from this famous distillery.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep copper-amber with a rich red-garnet glow and subtle ruby highlights.
Nose
Earthy red berries with grape skins and wood tannins form a wine-kissed core, complemented by eton mess, dark chocolate, mulled spices, stewed black plums, redcurrant jelly, Turkish delight and a whisper of strawberry balsamic.
Palate
A luxurious palate of rum-soaked raisins and dark chocolate opens to lush dark berries and hints of black forest gateaux. Earthy, tobacco-like undertones mingle with red-berry infused aromatic tea, while spiced dates and a whisper of Ribena-blackcurrant lend a dusky sweetness, finishing with velvet fruit-laced depth.
Finish
Oak-aged rose wine threads through the finish with plum jam and earthy black cherry, then lingers in high-cocoa chocolate, strawberry shortbread, and a raisin & black grape jelly sweetness.
