Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a luminous copper-gold sheen, edged by warm mahogany tones.
Nose
Opulent ex-Sherry aromas pour forth: sun-baked raisin and fig, tangy orange peel, and ripe cherry weaving with warm Christmas spices - clove, nutmeg, cinnamon. Rich toffee and velvet oak support a cocoa-tinged sweetness, while a refined leather and almond note add age-worthy depth. A lingering, festive perfume that hints at the 42 years spent in cask.
Palate
Silky, richly sherried on the palate, with raisin, fig and orange zest dancing alongside dark chocolate and treacle. Velvet spice, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove glide over a warm oak backbone, while prune and toffee deepen the fruitcake complexity. Long, elegant finish of dried fruit, toasted almond and leather.
Finish
A long, velvety finish of dark fruit, cocoa and spice, with orange zest and toffee notes and a soft oak backbone. The ex-Sherry cask breathes warmth and festive sweetness, leaving a refined, lingering glow on the palate.
