Fettercairn 16 Year Old has been produced using chocolate malted barley and matured in first fill American ex-bourbon casks, before being finished in sherry and port casks for a further two years.
The whisky is said to showcase a specific maturation journey, designed to hero the distillery’s tropical style achieved from the distinctive copper cooling ring distillation process.

Nose
Bright tropical fruits—pineapple and mango—rise with vanilla-kissed oak and cocoa malt. Sherry and port cask finishes bring dried fig, raisin, treacle, and toasted almond, balanced by warm spice and a touch of polished leather. Lush, inviting and complex, it hints at the 16 years in first-fill bourbon before the sherry-port finish, a tropical Highland aroma.
Palate
Silky and tropical on the palate, with pineapple and mango rising beside creamy vanilla and cocoa from the chocolate malt. First-fill bourbon fills with caramel and toffee, while sherry and port finishes weave in dried fig and raisin, spiced with a warm, lingering note. Plush mouthfeel, balanced oak, and a long, elegant finish that winds cocoa, fruit sweetness, and gentle spice.
