Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a coppery glow and mahogany depth, a warm wine-kissed hue with ruby highlights at the rim.
Nose
Smoky cherry compote with stewed red rhubarb, polished wood and salty cranberry, earthy forest fruits, aromatic oak bark, a dusting of salty cocoa, pink grapefruit and hints of sooty pink wafers.
Palate
Big peppery red-fruit delivery with forest-floor hints of cranberry and aniseed. Notes of fruit infusions, black tea and gunpowder mingle with meaty, salted ham. Sweetness is tempered by dry grape-skin tannin and smoke, leaving a balanced, persistent peppery fruit.
Finish
Salted cranberry, spicy black pepper on cured meat, red liquorice, drying into black grape skins, stewed black plums and coal fire sooty smoke.
