Celebrate the purest expression of terroir with Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014. Fully traceable and high provenance, a medley of apricot and peach complements the cereal-forward single malt, with a subtle maritime note nodding to the whisky’s all Islay harvest, distillation and maturation.

Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014 has been predominantly matured in first-fill bourbon casks (80%) along with a combination of second-fill sherry butts (5%) and second-fill wine casks (15%).

Nose

Apricot and peach aromas ride a cereal-forward barley base, with a delicate maritime whisper of salt and sea breeze. Vanilla and toffee from first-fill bourbon meld with subtle sherry and wine-cask nuances, adding dried-fruit depth and a light nutmeg-spice, capturing Islay’s coastal refinement.

(brook-LADDIE) Bruichladdich distillery is the home of four different malts: the unpeated Bruichladdich, the heavily peated Port Charlotte, the even more peated (and rarely seen) Lochindaal and the super heavily peated Octomore. The distillery was built in 1881 by the Harvey Brothers and at the time it was viewed as a very modern establishment.  It is situated in The Rhinns, in the west of the island, overlooking Loch Indaal. It ran under a succession of different owners including Whyte and Mackay and Murray McDavid before being purchased by Remy Cointreau in 2012.
