Bowmore "Dumpy Bottle" De Luxe Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (1980's Bottling) 12 Year Old
Out of stock
A bottle of the much collected and increasingly rare brown dumpy Bowmore which is rapidly being snapped up by overseas buyers at the time of writing.
An oddity of a Bowmore that is somewhat of a time capsule in that it bears no resemblance to its current 12 year old release. A challenging style of old fashioned Islay that reminds me somewhat of current young age statement Ledaig.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with mahogany depths and coppery undertones, a rich wine-dark glow in the glass.
Nose
Briny, sea-salted aroma with a sauerkraut-like pungency. Vegetal notes mingle with herbal lozenges, while tropical fruit hints ripen on a hot day beside a coastal fishmonger’s stall. Subtle caraway seeds lift the earth and heathery undertones, weaving a rugged, coastal tapestry that speaks of Bowmore’s weathered charm.
Palate
Briny to the core, with green vegetal notes, sour apple and salted tapioca pudding, backed by herbal hints. Smoked grapefruit threads through, while white ash peat smoke lingers invitingly on the tongue.
Finish
Briny, sauerkraut-kissed finish with a tangy fruit edge of grapefruit and apple cores. Salty and herbal, it lingers with charred green peppers from a smoked-fish barbecue, finished by white pepper and persistent brine.
