The battle between Peat and Oloroso in this Bowmore darkest cask is won very much by the Sherry and one of my favourite of The Bowmore range with a healthy three years spent in Oloroso sherry casks after initial ex-bourbon cask ageing.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep, dark mahogany with a warm reddish-amber glow and an almost opaque core, edged by coppery highlights.

Nose

Waxy orange, smoked toffee apple, sooty coal fire ash, aromatic spices, nutty caramel, cigar smoke, antique oak and leather bound books.

Palate

Rich and buttery dark fruit, smoked toffee and honeycomb mingle with caramelised orange, mocha and tea-smoked peat.

Finish

Buttery smoked fruitcake lingers with dark chocolate, treacle toffee and peated bonfire apples.
