Matured in Ruby Port Casks from Portugal

The defining feature of the Indri Diwali 2026 Collector’s Edition is its maturation in carefully selected Ruby Port casks sourced from Portugal.

Ruby Port is a fortified wine known for its youthful fruit character, typically displaying flavours of cherries, blackberries, plums and other dark fruits. When used for whisky maturation, these casks can contribute additional sweetness, berry flavours, colour and tannic structure.

For the 2026 edition, these characteristics complement Indri's naturally fruity and malty spirit, producing a whisky with layers of ripe berries, dried fruit, vanilla, honey and oak spice.

The whisky has been produced in small batches using six-row Indian barley and traditional copper pot stills. Matured in the subtropical climate of northern India, the spirit experiences greater interaction with the oak due to the region's significant seasonal temperature variations.

Bottling the whisky at 58.5% ABV preserves the intensity of its fruit, spice and oak characteristics.

Indri Diwali 2026 Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh black cherries, ripe blackberries and plums, followed by raisins, figs and dried fruits. Notes of toffee and vanilla add sweetness and depth.

Palate: Rich, honeyed fruit develops into dried berries, almonds and hazelnuts. Cinnamon, warming spices, oak, figs and a touch of liquorice provide additional complexity.

Finish: Long and full-bodied, with lingering fruit sweetness, gentle oak tannins and warming spice.

A Limited Edition Inspired by the Festival of Lights

The annual Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition celebrates Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, through distinctive whisky releases and intricately designed packaging.

For 2026, the bottle and presentation box feature colourful artwork inspired by traditional Indian miniature paintings. The design incorporates a white Marwari horse accompanied by its foal, surrounded by floral patterns, jewel-toned colours and gold detailing.

The Marwari horse, a breed historically associated with Rajasthan, provides a striking centrepiece for the presentation, while the elaborate decoration reflects India's artistic traditions.

This year's packaging makes the release particularly appealing to collectors following Indri's annual Diwali series.

The Fourth Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition

First introduced in 2023, the Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition series has become an important part of the distillery's limited-edition range.

Each annual release explores a different maturation style, offering collectors and whisky enthusiasts an opportunity to experience new expressions of Indri's single malt spirit.

The inaugural 2023 edition featured peated whisky matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, while the 2025 release explored Marsala wine cask maturation.

The 2026 Ruby Port Cask edition continues this approach, introducing Portuguese wine casks to create a distinctly fruit-led expression.

The collection has also received international recognition. The 2025 Diwali Collector's Edition was awarded Best Special Edition Design at the World Whiskies Awards 2026, highlighting the importance of the presentation alongside the whisky itself.

Only 180 Bottles Allocated to the UK

One of the most significant details surrounding the 2026 release is its extremely limited UK allocation.

Just 180 individually numbered bottles have been made available to the UK market, with a recommended retail price of £200 per 70cl bottle.

The whisky launched through selected specialist retailers in October 2026, with the limited allocation making it one of the more exclusive Indian single malt releases of the year.

The individually numbered bottles, annual release format and distinctive packaging are likely to attract interest from collectors of Indian single malts and previous Indri Diwali editions.

About Indri Single Malt Whisky

Indri is produced by Piccadily Distilleries in Haryana, northern India, near the foothills of the Himalayas.

The distillery uses locally sourced six-row barley and copper pot distillation to produce Indian single malt whisky, with maturation taking place in a variety of oak casks, including American oak and European sherry casks.

Since the launch of its Indri-Trini Three Wood expression in 2022, the distillery has developed an expanding portfolio of single malts, including cask-strength bottlings, special releases and its annual Diwali Collector's Editions.

The subtropical climate of Haryana plays an important role in maturation, with warm temperatures and seasonal changes encouraging interaction between spirit and wood.
