Colour

Golden-amber with a warm coppery glow and a hint of mahogany at the edge.

Nose

Soft peat smoke mingles with creamy malt and orchard fruit notes of apple and pear. Honeyed vanilla and a touch of citrus rise, while a gentle sherry sweetness and subtle spice add warmth and depth.

Palate

Soft, malty sweetness underpins a delicate peat whisper. Creamy vanilla and almond mingle with orange zest and orchard fruit, while a spice-kissed edge - cinnamon and white pepper - adds depth. The palate glides to a warm, lightly smoky finish with subtle oak.

Finish

Long, elegant finish with gentle peat smoke, honeyed malt and vanilla giving way to dried fruit and a warmth of spice; the oak-kissed sweetness lingers softly, refined and balanced.

(ben-ROM-ach) Benromach first opened in 1900, and is situated next to the railway line in Forres, about 25 miles east of Inverness on the main route to Aberdeen. Like many distilleries that opened around this time, the distillery survived until the 1980s, but with many changes of ownership and extended periods of closure.
