Another new release from the Benromach distillery, who are, thus far, having a very busy and productive 2019! This is a new batch released ‘Cask Strength’ variant, that has replaced the Benromach 10 year old 100 proof bottling. This first incarnation is 57.9% with the idea being that each batch going forward will be slightly different.
An intense sherried nose with stewed apple, pear and vanilla pod. Ther also a toasted malt present and an underlying herbal edge too. On the palate the fruit element is still very present with raspberry, strawberry and candied peel. Subtle sweet notes of milk chocolate are balanced by delicate smokey pepper. A touch of water adds polish, honey and yellow fruit flavours.
Smokey and rich on the finish with a sweet, salty and smokey character.

Colour
Deep amber with a coppery glow and a hint of mahogany.
Nose
An intense sherried nose of stewed apple and pear, with vanilla pod notes. Toasted malt adds richness, while a subtle herbal edge completes the aromatic profile.
Palate
On the palate the fruit persists—raspberry and strawberry with candied peel—carried by subtle milk chocolate sweetness. Delicate smoky pepper adds depth, while a touch of water reveals honeyed yellow fruit. The texture remains soft and rich, finishing with smoke, sweetness and a hint of salt.
Finish
Smoky and rich on the finish, with a lingering sweet, salty, and smoky character.
