The 6th instalment in Whistlepig's Boss Hog series. The Boss Hog Edition 六 is the first American Whiskey finished using Japanese Umeshu, the result of a true collaboration between WhistlePig and Kitaya brewery on Japan’s Kyushu island. On the nose, marshmallow, cinnamon and maple syrup, while the palate offers notes of tobacco, ginger, baking spices and savoury umami.
This well aged Straight Rye Whiskey was created using koji fermentation. Each bottle is adorned with The Samurai Scientist – Jōkichi Takamine – who pioneered koji fermentation in the American whisky industry over a century ago. Each bottle from this single barrel is bottled at strength between 120 – 122 proof.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery undertones and a warm mahogany edge.
Nose
Intensely aromatic, cinnamon and maple intertwine with toasted marshmallow, unfolding and growing sweeter with time in the glass.
Palate
Tobacco, ginger and baking spices intertwine with savory umami to shape a remarkably rich, nuanced palate. The koji-fermented rye carries a soft sweetness that glints through the spice, delivering an elegant, full-bodied mouthfeel with a refined, lingering warmth.
Finish
Incredibly long, oak-spice and char linger, with a subtle smoke curling at the edges as the finish slowly fades.
