About WhistlePig
WhistlePig began in 2007, when co-founder Wilco Faessen and a small group of partners bought a run-down dairy farm in Shoreham, Vermont. Dave Pickerell, the former Maker’s Mark master distiller, helped shape the whiskey programme, and the distillery officially opened on the 500-acre farm in 2015. The Shoreham site remains central to WhistlePig, with rye growing, distilling, ageing and bottling brought together in one place.
Rye sits at the centre of WhistlePig’s identity. Before estate distillation came fully online, the early whiskey was built from aged rye sourced in Canada and finished, blended and bottled in Vermont, with the 10 Year Small Batch Rye becoming the release that established the name. In 2020, Moët Hennessy acquired a minority stake in WhistlePig as part of an international partnership, while the Vermont farm continued as the heart of the business.
