Whisky Works Quarter Master - Blended Scotch Whisky 11 Year Old
In stock
The 2nd batch of experimental whiskies from Whisky Works. Highland Grain and Speyside Malts come together in a Blended Scotch with influences from Caribbean rum casks, Spanish Sherry butts and American White Oak barrels. The resulting whisky has a fresh, vibrant character, with notes of almonds, rum-steeped peaches, ginger, coffee, and dried fruit.
Just 2,134 individually numbered bottles of this 11 year old blend exist, each of which is non-chill filtered and has natural in colour.
The Highland grain whisky was matured in ex-rum barrels, lending it a sweet spice, before a portion received a further finish in Pedro-Ximénez sherry casks, adding more rich flavours. Two Speyside malts were married with the grain - one matured in America white oak, the other in sherry butts. The twin malts complement each other and the fruity grain perfectly - a masterful blend br Whisky Maker, Gregg Glass.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep sunlit amber with a coppery gleam and a touch of mahogany, a warm honeyed glow hinting at PX sherry and rum-influenced richness.
Nose
Bright, vibrant nose with almond notes framed by rum-steeped peaches, a ginger-kissed spice, and roasted coffee. Dried fruit sweetness and a hint of sherry and rum cask complexity weave through the aroma, inviting another look.
Palate
Silky and vibrant on the palate, with almond sweetness, rum-steeped peaches and a ginger kick, supported by coffee and dried fruit. The ex-rum matured grain provides a sweet-spice warmth, while PX sherry and sherry-butt maturation from the malts deliver a layered, oak-tinted finish that lingers with grace.
Finish
Long, warm finish with almond-nut sweetness and dried fruit lingering, framed by ginger spice and coffee depth. The ex-rum maturation and Pedro-Ximénez finish impart a subtle rum-fruited echo, fading into creamy oak and cocoa for a refined, persistent tail.
